In a move that promises to open new doors for sportspersons in Haryana, the state government has announced a groundbreaking 3% quota for outstanding and eligible athletes in Group C recruitments conducted by the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC). This dedicated quota aims to recognize and reward the hard work and achievements of sportspersons, while also encouraging talent development in the state.

Quota Implementation and Eligibility

The Sports and Youth Affairs Department will create a separate quota and send a requisition to the HSSC for a dedicated recruitment drive for OSPs and ESPs, amounting to 3% of the total Group C posts recruited by the commission in any given year. The quota will be applicable across seven key departments, including Home, Sports, School Education, Elementary Education, Jail, Forest and Wildlife, and Energy.

A Boost for Sportspersons' Careers

This move by the Haryana government, led by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, is set to provide a significant boost to the careers of sportspersons in the state. By reserving a dedicated quota, the government aims to recognize the hard work and dedication of athletes, while also providing them with opportunities to secure stable employment and pursue their sporting aspirations alongside their professional careers.

Ongoing Recruitment Drives

The HSSC had already initiated the process of recruiting sportspersons earlier this year, inviting applications for various posts ranging from Assistant Lineman to Trained Graduate Physical Education Teachers, Deputy Rangers, Male and Female Wardens, Assistant Jail Superintendents, Junior Coaches, Male and Female Constables, and Male Sub-Inspectors. With the introduction of the 3% quota, these recruitment drives are set to become even more inclusive and supportive of athletes.

In simple terms, the Haryana government's decision to introduce a separate 3% quota for outstanding and eligible sportspersons in Group C recruitments is a significant step towards promoting and recognizing sporting talent in the state. By providing dedicated opportunities across seven key departments, this move not only rewards the hard work and achievements of athletes but also encourages the development of sporting talent in Haryana.
