Haryana's Antyodaya Parivar Parivahan Yojana: A Game-Changer for Mobility
In a groundbreaking move, the Haryana state government has introduced the HAPPY (Haryana Antyodaya Parivar Parivahan Yojana) card, a National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) that provides free travel up to 1,000 km annually on government buses for poor families. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini personally distributed these cards to beneficiaries during a state-level function held in Karnal city.
Empowering the Underprivileged with Mobility
During the event, CM Saini emphasized the transformative impact of the HAPPY card on the lives of Antyodaya (underprivileged) families. "This initiative will transform the lives of the beneficiaries by offering them the much-needed mobility support," he stated. "It has been designed to improve the quality of life of Antyodaya families."
Promoting Financial Inclusion through Digital Payments
In addition to free travel, the NCMC card also facilitates digital payments, promoting financial inclusion among the beneficiary families. This feature allows them to seamlessly conduct transactions and embrace the digital revolution.
Eligibility and Reach
According to CM Saini, a total of 24 lakh families and 84 lakh beneficiaries across the state are eligible for the scheme, which targets households with an annual income below Rs 1 lakh. So far, more than 1.11 lakh beneficiaries have availed themselves of the scheme's benefits.
Criticism of Congress' False Promises
During the event, CM Saini did not shy away from criticizing the opposition Congress party. He accused them of misleading the public with false promises, such as providing Rs 8,500 per month to every woman. "After the Lok Sabha election results were announced on June 4, people approached the Congress leaders to fulfill the promise but realized that the leaders had lied to them," Saini alleged.
Praise for PM Modi's Welfare Initiatives
Saini also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's welfare schemes, which have been instrumental in improving the lives of the people. He highlighted initiatives like 'Nal se Jal' (tap water supply), 'Ujjwala' (LPG connection for poor households), and Ayushman Bharat (affordable healthcare), crediting them for resolving various issues faced by housewives and providing free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh.
Haryana's Commitment to Social Welfare
The state government's commitment to social welfare was further underscored by the increase in the income limit for the Ayushman Bharat scheme from Rs 1.20 lakh to Rs 1.80 lakh, the launch of the Chirayu Haryana scheme, and the provision of the highest old-age pension of Rs 3,000 per beneficiary, as claimed by CM Saini.
Simultaneous Statewide Events
Similar events were held simultaneously across Haryana, where state ministers, MLAs, government officials, beneficiaries, and senior officials from AU Small Finance Bank participated, highlighting the widespread implementation of the HAPPY card scheme.
