Rohtak PGIMS, a prominent medical institution in the region, is grappling with a severe shortage of doctors, nurses, and essential staff, leading to prolonged wait times and compromised patient care. In response, the institute has initiated a comprehensive recruitment drive through the Kaushal Rozgar Nigam to alleviate the strain on healthcare services.

Amidst the bustling corridors of Rohtak PGIMS, a stark reality looms large – an acute shortage of vital personnel, including doctors, nurses, and essential staff, threatens to undermine healthcare delivery. With thousands of patients flocking to the institute daily, the shortage has exacerbated wait times and left patients vulnerable to compromised care.

Resident doctors, the frontline warriors in this healthcare battle, express their frustration as they witness patients endure lengthy delays in accessing essential services. From obtaining OPD cards to undergoing crucial investigations, patients face an uphill battle against the constraints of understaffed healthcare facilities.

Dr. SS Lohchab, Director of Rohtak PGIMS, acknowledges the gravity of the situation, revealing that recruitment efforts are underway to bolster the institute's workforce. While senior resident doctors have been recently recruited, the appointment of faculty members is progressing through the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC).

In parallel, efforts to fill ancillary roles such as sweepers and security guards are being coordinated through the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN), aiming to augment support services and alleviate the burden on existing staff.

Vikas Phogat, representing the Nurses' Association at PGIMS, sheds light on the critical shortage of nursing officers, with nearly 200 positions remaining vacant. Despite the escalating patient load and burgeoning healthcare demands, the institute grapples with unfulfilled nursing positions, further straining healthcare resources.

Dr. RS Dahiya, a seasoned healthcare professional and core committee member of Jan Swasthya Abhiyan (JSA), emphasises the detrimental impact of staffing shortages on patient care. He calls for sustained efforts to address recruitment challenges and ensure quality healthcare delivery to the community.

As Rohtak PGIMS forges ahead with its recruitment drive, the institute remains committed to enhancing its workforce and improving service capabilities. However, the persistent challenges posed by staffing shortages underscore the urgent need for concerted action to fortify healthcare infrastructure and safeguard patient well-being in the region.
