Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar declared the establishment of a police commissionerate for Jhajjar district, marking it as the fourth one in the state and all within the National Capital Region (NCR). The announcement was made during the state assembly session while addressing the budget estimates debate.

Khattar stated, “I announce that for Jhajjar district too, police commissionerate will be formed.” The decision follows closely after the tragic murder of INLD state president Nafe Singh Rathee at Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar, prompting criticism from opposition parties regarding law and order issues. The establishment of a commissionerate in Jhajjar aligns with the existing ones in Faridabad, Gurugram, and Sonepat, all located within the NCR. This move underscores the government's commitment to bolstering security and law enforcement in the region.

In addition to the commissionerate announcement, Khattar, who also holds the finance portfolio, revealed several other significant initiatives during the budget presentation for the 2024-25 financial year. These include waivers of interest and penalty on certain crop loans and a decision to refrain from tax hikes.

Reflecting on his government's tenure, Khattar highlighted, “During the past 10 years, we have initiated several development works.” Responding to criticism from opposition parties regarding the budget's efficacy and escalating debt, Khattar defended his administration's approach. He quipped, “Those whose accounting is bad are asking for accounts from me,” emphasizing the need for constructive criticism over baseless allegations.

Asserting the government's commitment to equitable development, Khattar emphasized that development initiatives were not confined to particular areas but aimed at benefitting the entire state. He rebutted claims of budget populism, asserting that allocations were made based on genuine public needs rather than political considerations.

Khattar's remarks underscored the government's focus on governance-driven policies rather than election-centric agendas, signaling a commitment to addressing pressing issues and promoting holistic development across Haryana.
