Geeta Mahotsav

The curtains fell on the 18-day-long International Geeta Mahotsav-23 on Sunday evening, marking a spectacular conclusion on the banks of Brahma Sarovar in Kurukshetra. The Mahotsav, celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm, witnessed an estimated footfall of 35 to 40 lakh attendees, with an additional 60 lakh viewers engaging in the event through various social media platforms organised by the district administration.

In a unique initiative, the Haryana Prisons Department established a shop in the Saras fair, showcasing products crafted by inmates from different jails across the state. Visitors to the shop purchased items such as sofa sets, benches, mobile stands, candies, and other products totalling Rs 5.75 lakh, while additional orders worth Rs 2.20 lakh were received. This innovative endeavour not only showcased the talents of the inmates but also contributed to their rehabilitation.

Moreover, artisans from Assam actively participated in the Mahotsav, conducting brisk business amounting to Rs 50 lakh. As the state partner, Assam played a significant role in adding cultural richness to the festival. Sri Lanka, the country partner for this year's Geeta Mahotsav, also contributed to the event's international stature.

District Commissioner Shantanu Sharma expressed his satisfaction with the success of the event, highlighting the festival's growing reputation as an international celebration. The International Geeta Mahotsav continues to serve as a platform for cultural exchange, economic opportunities, and spiritual enrichment, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds to celebrate the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita.
