Haryana took a significant step towards a greener future on August 16, 2024, as Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini launched a state-level plantation campaign, planting an impressive 51 lakh saplings across the state. This initiative, part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, aims to combat air pollution and promote greenery.
Speaking at the launch event in Kaithal, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of nurturing saplings and encouraged citizens to participate actively in the campaign. He highlighted the state's target of planting 1 crore 60 lakh saplings and the establishment of "Oxyvans" to address oxygen shortages during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Minister of State for Environment, Forest & Wildlife, Sanjay Singh, expressed his delight at the campaign's launch in Kaithal, praising the Prime Minister's initiative to respect mother nature. He also commended the Chief Minister's dedication to the people of Haryana.
The event saw participation from various dignitaries, including former Minister and MLA Kamlesh Dhanda, MLA Leela Ram, and Hafed Chairman Kailash Bhagat. With this massive plantation drive, Haryana is setting an example for other states to follow in the fight against air pollution and promoting a healthier environment.
