In a significant move ahead of the upcoming state elections, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini has announced major relief measures for farmers during a rally in Kurukshetra. The announcement, which includes a substantial debt waiver and expanded crop support, has drawn attention from across the state, as reported by The Haryana Story.
At the BJP's 'Vijay Shankhnad Rally' in Kurukshetra, CM Saini declared a waiver of 133 crore and 55 lakh rupees in farmer debt. This decision is expected to provide immediate relief to many struggling farmers in the state. Additionally, he made a landmark promise to extend Minimum Support Price (MSP) coverage to all 24 crops grown in Haryana, a significant increase from the previous 14 crops under MSP.
The Chief Minister also addressed other pressing agricultural issues. He announced that 137 crore rupees would be disbursed this week as compensation for crop damage due to natural calamities before 2023. In a move to support irrigation, Saini said farmers would be allowed to relocate old, non-functional tube wells. He also removed the solar energy condition for new bore wells replacing damaged ones. These announcements come as the BJP kicks off its election campaign in Haryana. The rally, attended by former CM and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and other senior party leaders, saw CM Saini blowing a conch shell to symbolically launch the campaign.
Saini criticized the opposition, particularly the Congress, accusing them of spreading misinformation. He highlighted his government's achievements, including providing jobs to 141,000 youth in the last ten years and implementing free medical treatment up to 5 lakh rupees. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who is in charge of BJP affairs in Haryana, praised the state government's initiatives. He claimed that Haryana would be the first state to provide MSP for every crop, setting a new benchmark in farmer support.
The rally also saw the BJP leadership emphasizing their development agenda and critiquing the previous Congress government's policies. They promised to continue their "non-stop development" of Haryana if re-elected. As part of their election strategy, the BJP plans to hold similar rallies in all 90 assembly constituencies of Haryana under the slogan "Mhara Haryana, Non-Stop Haryana" (Our Haryana, Non-Stop Haryana).
This event, as covered by The Haryana Story, marks a significant moment in Haryana's political landscape, with agricultural support taking center stage in the run-up to the elections. The impact of these promises on voter sentiment and the opposition's response will be crucial in shaping the electoral narrative in the coming months.
