The Haryana government has made a big decision to help families of brave soldiers and police officers who die while serving our country. Dr. Abhay Singh Yadav, the State Minister for Sainik and Ardh Sainik Welfare, announced that the government will now give 1 crore rupees instead of 50 lakh rupees to these families. This money is called an ex-gratia payment.

Who Will Benefit?

This new rule is for families of people from Haryana who work in:

  1. The army, navy, and air force
  2. Central armed police forces

These brave people might lose their lives in different situations, such as:

  • During wars
  • In special operations -
  • Fighting terrorists or extremists
  • In fights at the border
  • While serving in United Nations peacekeeping missions

Dr. Yadav said this help is for those who die while doing their official duties in these dangerous situations. = A Long-Standing Demand Fulfilled

Dr. Yadav mentioned that he feels happy about this decision. He said that he had asked for this change earlier when he was a member of the legislative assembly. Now, as a minister, he sees this demand being fulfilled. He had requested in the last assembly session to increase the payment from 50 lakh to 1 crore rupees for martyrs' families.

History of Support

This isn't the first time the government has increased this support. Dr. Yadav explained that on March 24, 2016, the government had increased the payment from 20 lakh to 50 lakh rupees. This was for soldiers who died in wars, IED explosions, actions against extremists or terrorists, or in border clashes.

This new increase shows that the Haryana government values the sacrifices made by its brave soldiers and police officers. It's a way to honor their service and help their families cope with the loss. This support can make a big difference in the lives of families who lose their loved ones who serve the nation. It's a strong message that the state stands behind its heroes and their families in times of need.
