During a review meeting, CM Saini instructed officers to convene a joint meeting of the Social Justice, Empowerment, Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, Antyodaya (SEWA), and Higher Education Departments to release the pending amount of post-matric scholarships for Scheduled Caste (SC) students. Recognizing the financial challenges faced by students, he directed that from this year onwards, the scholarship amount should be disbursed at the time of admission to prevent interruptions in their education.

Enhancing Welfare Measures for the Underprivileged

The Chief Minister also directed officers to increase the amount provided under the Haryana State Shubhra Jyotsna Pension Scheme, which currently offers a monthly pension of Rs 15,000. Additionally, under the Mukhyamantri Vivah Shagun Yojana, he instructed that Rs 61,000 out of the Rs 71,000 provided should be disbursed at the time of registration to assist beneficiaries with their daughters' weddings.

Caring for the Elderly: Establishing Samarth Vriddh SEWA Ashrams

Saini highlighted the Haryana government's commitment to caring for elderly individuals over the age of 80 who live alone due to various reasons. To this end, the Samarth Vriddh SEWA Ashram Scheme is being established across the state. In the first phase, these ashrams will be opened in Gurugram, Hisar, Jhajjar, Sirsa, Sonepat, and Yamunanagar, providing a safe and supportive environment for the elderly.

Prioritizing Construction Workers' Well-being

Taking a significant decision in the interest of workers of the Haryana Building and Other Construction Welfare Board, the Chief Minister directed the Labour Department officers to immediately release pending funds for toolkits, bicycle schemes, and sewing machines. He also instructed the officers to create a new scheme to provide health benefits to construction welfare board workers, similar to those offered by the Employees' State Insurance (ESI).

Industries, Commerce, and Labour Minister Mool Chand Sharma, who attended the meeting, further directed that pending death claims of workers should be immediately processed to provide financial aid to poor families.

Flood Prevention Preparations

Recognizing the importance of disaster preparedness, CM Saini directed officials to complete preparations for flood prevention by June 30. Last year, Ambala and Kurukshetra districts suffered significant flood damage, highlighting the urgency of taking proactive measures. The Chief Minister presided over a meeting of the Irrigation and Water Resources Department to review the preparations for flood prevention.

Through these directives, the Haryana government under Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini aims to address pressing issues related to student welfare, pension schemes, supporting the elderly, safeguarding the interests of construction workers, and ensuring disaster preparedness. The timely implementation of these measures is expected to benefit various sections of society, particularly the underprivileged and vulnerable groups.
