In response to the recent devastation caused by rain and hail storms in Yamunanagar district, Haryana's Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department has introduced the e-Kshatipurti portal. This initiative aims to streamline the process of reporting crop damage and facilitating relief measures for affected farmers.

The calamitous weather conditions, striking on January 31st and February 1st, wreaked havoc on agricultural lands across Yamunanagar district, leaving crops of wheat, mustard, fodder, and pulses ravaged. According to data compiled by the department, an extensive 77,638 acres of farmland have been adversely affected by the hailstorms.

Recognizing the urgent need for assistance, Yamunanagar Deputy Commissioner, Captain Manoj Kumar, proactively petitioned Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to address the plight of local farmers. In response, the e-Kshatipurti portal was swiftly launched, providing a digital platform for farmers to register their crop damage claims.

Farmers are required to furnish their family identity cards for registration on the portal, alongside mandatory enrollment on the 'Meri Fasal Mera Byora' platform. Deputy Commissioner Captain Manoj Kumar reiterated the importance of these prerequisites to ensure accurate documentation and efficient processing of relief applications.

The portal, operational until March 10th, facilitates a seamless submission process for farmers seeking assistance for their losses. Its implementation aims to enhance transparency and accessibility in the assessment and distribution of relief aid.

As per the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department's assessment, varying degrees of damage have been reported across affected farmlands. Approximately 62,311 acres incurred damage ranging from 0-25%, while 13,318 acres suffered 25-50% damage. Additionally, 1,719 acres and 290 acres experienced 50-75% and 75-100% damage, respectively.

The launch of the e-Kshatipurti portal underscores the government's commitment to supporting farmers during times of crisis. It serves as a pivotal tool in expediting relief efforts and ensuring that affected individuals receive the necessary assistance to recuperate from agricultural losses.

With the portal now operational, farmers in Yamunanagar district are encouraged to utilise this online platform to report their crop damage and avail themselves of relief measures provided by the state government.
