In a bid to propel economic growth and ensure equitable development, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has launched "Mission Haryana-2047." Despite concerns over rising debt, Khattar emphasised the state's commitment to fostering prosperity while prioritising the welfare of its citizens.
Addressing the Assembly during a discussion on Budget estimates for the fiscal year 2024-25, Khattar reaffirmed the government's dedication to contribute to India's goal of becoming a $5-trillion economy. He underscored the significance of "Viksit Haryana" (Developed Haryana) and "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India) by 2047, marking the centenary year of India's independence.
Asserting the principle of "antyodaya," Khattar reiterated that development under the BJP regime would be need-based, with a focus on catering to the needs of the underprivileged. He emphasised, "The poor will always have the first right on the state’s resources during our regime," highlighting a departure from the demand-based approach observed during the Congress regime.
In response to criticisms from the opposition, Khattar defended the government's financial management, refuting allegations of populist measures in the Budget. He emphasised that the government's priorities lie with the people, rather than electoral considerations.
However, former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda criticised the BJP government's record on debt management, labelling the increase in debt as its "only achievement." Hooda raised concerns over the state's total debt, including substantial internal debt, pegged at Rs 4.51 lakh crore.
Amidst these debates, Khattar announced the formation of a task force led by Deepak Bagla, CEO of Invest India, to execute "Mission Haryana-2047." This initiative aims to drive sustainable growth and attract investments to the state, aligning with national development goals.= Additionally, Khattar highlighted efforts to address regional disparities, emphasising inclusive development across all districts. He cited the BJP's commitment to the principle of "Haryana ek, Haryanvi ek" (One Haryana, One Haryanvi) as a cornerstone of its governance approach.
In a significant move towards inclusive development, Khattar announced ownership rights for residents of GLF Colony in Hisar, demonstrating the government's commitment to fulfilling sustainable development goals by 2030.
