No-Trust Motion Against Haryana's Khattar Government Defeated

In a heated session at the Haryana Assembly, the no-confidence motion brought forth by the Congress against the ruling BJP-JJP coalition was defeated through a voice vote. Despite a fervent debate, marked by accusations and counter-accusations, the motion failed to garner enough support, leading to a walkout by the opposition legislators. 

Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, leading the Congress charge, expressed disappointment over the government's tactic of resorting to personal attacks instead of addressing critical issues outlined in their manifesto. Hooda cited concerns over unemployment, crime, drugs, inflation, and farmers' grievances, asserting that the government failed to provide satisfactory responses. 

Speaker Gian Chand Gupta declared the motion defeated after the Congress members staged a walkout, with BJP supporters echoing "Jai Shri Ram" slogans. In his rebuttal to Congress's allegations, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar pointed fingers at the previous Congress administration, highlighting alleged scams and pending legal cases against senior Congress leaders.

Khattar defended his government's performance, citing achievements in recruitment and administrative reforms. He compared the number of posts filled under the BJP-JJP regime to those during Congress rule, emphasising the significant increase under their tenure.

The debate also saw the Congress raising concerns over the use of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against one of its legislators in the Nuh violence case. The demand for withdrawal of the case was met with the government's assertion of non-interference in ongoing investigations.

Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala faced an uncomfortable moment during the proceedings when a JJP MLA made personal remarks against him and his family. Despite being alliance partners, the JJP MLA expressed "conditional" support to the government, leading to a verbal altercation between Chautala and the MLA. 

Chautala later clarified the MLA's dissatisfaction stemmed from ministerial appointments, indicating internal discord within the coalition. The session, lasting over four hours, underscored the political tension and divisions within the Haryana Assembly, leaving unresolved the pressing issues facing the state.
