The recent storm and strong winds that swept across Haryana caused massive damage to the state's power infrastructure, with 13,277 electricity poles either uprooted or severely damaged, Energy Minister Anil Vij said on Friday.

Assuring residents that restoration work is underway on a war footing, Vij said the power department has launched a large-scale drive to normalise electricity supply in the affected areas as quickly as possible.

According to the minister, 2,791 damaged poles fall under Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN), while 10,486 belong to Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN).

To speed up restoration, 1,552 personnel have been deployed in special teams across the state. The workforce includes 620 UHBVN employees and 932 engineers and technical staff from DHBVN, who are working round the clock to repair damaged power lines, transformers and other electrical infrastructure. The storm disrupted electricity supply in 233 villages, including 32 under UHBVN and 201 under DHBVN. A total of 842 power feeders were also affected, with 458 under UHBVN and 384 under DHBVN.

Anil Vij said electricity has already been restored in most affected areas, while work is continuing rapidly in the remaining locations. He directed officials to closely monitor the situation and deploy additional resources wherever required to minimise delays.

The Energy Minister also urged people to stay away from damaged power lines and fallen electricity poles and immediately report any power-related issues to the nearest electricity office or complaint centre to ensure prompt action.
