A powerful spell of storm and rain wreaked havoc in Haryana's Tohana on Thursday evening, when a nearly 10-foot-high wall collapsed onto a newly purchased Tata Tiago, completely crushing the vehicle parked outside a house.
The car belonged to Sheshi Ram, a PGT Sanskrit teacher posted at the Government School in Amani village. Fortunately, no one was inside the vehicle when the incident occurred, preventing what could have turned into a major tragedy.
According to Sheshi Ram, the storm intensified around 7 pm, prompting him to call his children inside the porch for safety. Moments later, they heard a loud crash. When the family stepped outside, they found the boundary wall had collapsed directly onto their 2024-model Tata Tiago, leaving it badly mangled under the debris.
The teacher said the car was locked and no family member was nearby at the time of the incident. While the vehicle suffered extensive damage, he expressed relief that everyone in the family was safe and no one in the neighbourhood was injured.
Sheshi Ram added that the car is insured and hopes the insurance company will cover the losses and help restore the damaged vehicle.
Residents in the area said the weather changed suddenly on Thursday evening, with strong winds and heavy rain causing damage at several places. The collapsed wall, located around 10 feet from the family's porch, now lies completely in ruins, highlighting the intensity of the storm.
