The Haryana government has announced an ex-gratia compensation of Rs 10 lakh each for the families of those killed in the devastating fire at Rohtak's D-Park market area, where three people lost their lives and several shops and vehicles were destroyed.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini also announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh for every injured person and assured that all victims would receive free medical treatment at government hospitals.

Expressing grief over the tragedy, the Chief Minister extended his condolences to the bereaved families and directed the Rohtak District Administration to conduct a detailed assessment of the losses caused by the blaze. He specifically instructed the Deputy Commissioner to prepare a comprehensive report for further government action.

The massive fire broke out on Tuesday at the busy D-Park market area in Rohtak, engulfing more than 10 shops and destroying several vehicles, most of them two-wheelers parked outside the establishments.

Although authorities have not yet officially confirmed the identities of the deceased, family members have identified them as Kapil, Aman and Saurabh. Their bodies were recovered from the debris after firefighters brought the blaze under control. Post-mortem examinations are scheduled to be conducted at Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS).

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. However, eyewitnesses claimed the blaze started after an explosion in an air-conditioner compressor inside a showroom before rapidly spreading to adjoining shops and causing widespread destruction.

Firefighters battled the flames for more than six hours before finally bringing the situation under control. Officials are continuing to investigate the incident while assessing the full extent of the damage.

Meanwhile, Deepender Singh Hooda visited the site and urged the state government to provide employment assistance to the families of the deceased. He also demanded compensation for affected shopkeepers whose businesses and properties were destroyed, adequate financial support for the injured and a thorough probe to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The state government has assured all possible assistance to the affected families as investigations into the cause of the fire continue.
