In a classic case of “rules don’t apply to us,” a group of youngsters in Faridabad ended up paying a heavy price for riding a bike without a number plate. During a traffic checking drive at BK Chowk, police stopped a suspicious Splendor motorcycle that had no registration number and a modified (loud) silencer.
Upon questioning, the riders reportedly said they had not installed a number plate “by choice” and insisted it was their personal preference. Moments later, they were seen trying to leave the spot.
Traffic police, however, were in no mood to entertain such excuses.A challan amounting to ₹23,000 was levied, and the bike was impounded on the spot. The authorities informed that the action was taken as part of a routine checking drive to enforce traffic rules and curb violations that create a safety hazard on the road.
The police reiterated that driving a vehicle without a number plate and using modified silencers are serious offenses under traffic laws, which will attract strict action.
The incident has gained popularity on the internet, which shows how a casual attitude towards the law can turn out to be a costly blunder.
