Panic has been reported in several educational institutions on Tuesday after the receipt of emails by five schools in Gurugram stating that explosives were planted in the schools. This has resulted in the evacuation of the schools and thorough security checks.
Following the receipt of the emails, the authorities immediately rushed to the schools along with the police and the bomb disposal team. The students were evacuated from the classrooms as a precautionary measure. The students were then sent home by the school authorities.
The police thoroughly inspected the schools and the surrounding areas in order to ensure the security and safety of the students and the staff. It was confirmed that there were no explosives in the schools following the thorough security checks.
A spokesperson for the Gurugram police said the premises were thoroughly sanitised after the search operation and that the situation is currently under control. Authorities have launched an investigation to trace the source of the threatening emails and identify those responsible.
Meanwhile, similar panic was reported in Ludhiana, where 10 schools also received bomb threat emails on the same day. In that case, anti-sabotage checks were carried out, although schools were not evacuated.
Ludhiana Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma said the situation was being closely monitored and security agencies had conducted precautionary searches across the campuses.
Officials noted that several schools across Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh have received similar bomb threat emails in recent months. In most cases, the threats later turned out to be hoaxes, but authorities continue to treat each alert seriously to ensure student safety.
