In a major breakthrough, Gurugram Police have arrested two long-absconding criminals — an alleged murderer on the run for 11 years and a thief who had evaded arrest for nine years. The arrests have led to the exposure of around two dozen criminal cases across multiple states.

According to police officials, a team from the Crime Branch, Sector-43, led by Inspector Narender Sharma, arrested the nine-year fugitive thief. The operation was executed by Head Constable Praveen, who tracked down the accused after sustained surveillance.

The arrested thief has been identified as Shakeel Khan alias Satish, a native of Dholpur district in Rajasthan. He was wanted in several cases related to theft and receiving stolen property. The accused was originally booked in a 2015 theft attempt case under the Manesar police station area and was later declared a proclaimed offender (PO) by the court.

During verification, police found that Shakeel alias Satish has 28 criminal cases registered against him in Gurugram, Delhi, and Agra.

In a separate operation, the PO Staff Headquarters arrested Manpal, a resident of Badli, who had been absconding since 2014 in a case of murder and attempt to murder registered at Bhondsi police station. He was declared a proclaimed offender by the court in 2019, and an additional case was registered against him at Shivaji Nagar police station for evading arrest.

Police officials said Manpal was apprehended from Gurugram, and further interrogation is underway to ascertain his involvement in other crimes. Senior officers stated that these arrests highlight the department’s sustained efforts to track down proclaimed offenders, regardless of how long they have been absconding. “No offender is beyond the reach of law. We are systematically tracing and arresting proclaimed offenders,” a police official said.

The arrests have been welcomed as a significant step towards strengthening law enforcement and curbing repeat offenders in the region.
