The cold wave conditions are expected to increase in Haryana during the next couple of days, as the India Meteorological Department has issued Yellow and Orange alerts for various districts. This warning comes amidst the falling of snow in the Himalayan region along with cold north-westerly winds, which might push temperatures down further.
The IMD said both minimum and maximum temperatures are likely to fall during the next three days, resulting in severe cold conditions, especially during mornings and nights. The department warned residents of 16 districts over the chill wave and dense fog.
Orange Alert Districts
Also, an orange alert has been issued for Sirsa, Hisar, Fatehabad, Jind, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Ambala, Panipat, and Sonipat. The mentioned districts are very likely to experience cold wave conditions with very dense fog, thereby leading to a significant decrease in visibility and disrupting routine life.
Yellow Alert Districts
While, a yellow alert has also been sounded for Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Bhiwani, Rohtak, Charkhi Dadri, Jhajjar, Rewari, Gurugram, Mahendragarh, Nuh, Palwal, and Faridabad, signaling cold weather conditions with moderate fog.
When Will Clouds Appear?
IMD has forecast very dense fog over most parts of Haryana during 24-27 December. Day temperatures are expected to be lower over many districts including Hisar, Narnaul and Sirsa, thus further intensifying the cold conditions. Narnaul is the coldest location in the state at present.
Weather officials said a weak western disturbance after December 28 cannot be ruled out, as a result of which cloudy conditions may prevail in some parts of Haryana. Accordingly, officials have called for the public, particularly the elderly, children, and early morning commuters, to take precautions against the cold and poor visibility.
