A 27-year-old youth from Jagranbas village in Haryana’s Charkhi Dadri district was brutally murdered in the UK while returning from university. The incident took place in Birmingham on Monday night, sending shockwaves through the victim’s hometown.
The deceased, Vijay Kumar, was the son of former soldier Surender Singh. He had earlier worked as a Central Goods and Services Tax inspector and had taken voluntary retirement to pursue higher education abroad. He had been studying MBA since February this year.
According to family members, Vijay was returning from university when he offered a lift to five Indian youths traveling in a car. Soon after, he was attacked and killed under circumstances that are still under investigation.
UK police have detained five suspects, identified as Paras from Delhi, Maggu from Kurukshetra, and three others. All accused will be produced in a UK court on Thursday. The victim’s body is expected to be brought back to India within a week. The family has demanded strict punishment for the culprits. The tragic incident has triggered deep anger and grief across the village and district.
