Al Falah Electrician, House Owner's Brother Held in Umar Shelter Case

CCTV footage seized as agencies track terror suspect's local contacts in Nuh; three doctors released after questioning

Security agencies detained Al Falah University electrician Shoyeb and house owner's brother Rizwan for questioning in Dr. Umar shelter case.

The investigation into the Delhi bomb blast and Faridabad-based white-collar terror module has intensified in Nuh, where security agencies detained two men for questioning—an electrician employed at Al Falah University and the brother of the woman who owned the house where terrorist Dr. Umar allegedly hid for nearly 10 days.

Security Tightened in Hidayat Colony

Authorities have increased security deployment in Hidayat Colony, erecting barricades around the street where Umar stayed. A bomb disposal squad searched the premises but found nothing suspicious. "No suspiciousness was found during the investigation," a senior police officer confirmed.

Meanwhile, three doctors and a fertilizer and seed seller who were earlier picked up for questioning have been released after investigators found no evidence linking them to the case.

Key Detentions

According to the investigation, Umar lived in a rented house in Hidayat Colony for approximately 10 days. The property is reportedly owned by Afsana, who is currently absconding. Police have compiled a complete list of all lane residents and verified their details. Nuh SP Rajesh Kumar visited the location Sunday to review the situation. The detained individuals are Shoyeb, an electrician at Al Falah University, and Rizwan, house owner Afsana's brother. Investigators suspect both may have arranged accommodation for Umar. Agencies are probing whether the two knew Umar's identity or his terror network connections. Sources indicate Shoyeb is Afsana's brother-in-law.

Released After Questioning

Three doctors—Rizwan, Mohammad, and Mustaqeem—and fertilizer seller Dinesh Singla alias Dabbu were let off after interrogation as investigators did not find sufficient evidence of their involvement.

Technical Analysis Pending

The investigating agencies have seized the CCTV footage and DVRs from nearby nursing homes and the surrounding areas. Technical experts are analyzing the data in order to trace Umar's movement and his contacts. Officials said the footage is likely to provide important leads on investigations.

The probe examines how Umar managed to secure accommodation in Nuh, whether he used false identification, and who facilitated his stay. The connection between Al Falah University staff and the shelter arrangement is particularly significant given the university's links to other accused in the case.

Local Police Role

A senior Nuh police officer clarified their limited role: "We are not investigating the matter. We helped the investigating agencies whenever they required it. The investigating agencies have visited various areas in Nuh district for investigation but we have nothing to say on the matter." This statement suggests central agencies are leading the probe while local police provide logistical support. The case continues expanding as investigators uncover the support network that enabled Umar's operations in the region.
