Haryana experienced its coldest night of the season with Hisar recording a minimum temperature of 6.8°C and Mahendragarh touching 6.9°C. Weather experts confirm these are the season's lowest minimum temperatures so far, signaling the intensification of winter across the state.

Temperature Drops Below Shimla

Ten centers across Haryana recorded temperatures below 9°C last night, while 18 cities fell within the 10°C range. Remarkably, seven Haryana cities recorded temperatures lower than Shimla, where the minimum stood at 9°C, demonstrating the severity of cold conditions in the plains.

Yamunanagar in northern Haryana recorded the state's lowest maximum temperature at 23.5°C during the day. In Haryana, the season's coldest night was recorded, with Hisar experiencing the minimum temperature of 6.8°C and Mahendragarh recording 6.9°C. This has been confirmed by weather experts as the minimum temperature this season, thus far, and represents an intensification of winter across the state.

Temperature Drops Below Shimla

As many as 10 centres in the state recorded temperatures below 9°C last night, while 18 cities fell under the range of 10°C. Surprisingly, seven cities in Haryana recorded below-temperature of Shimla which recorded a minimum of 9°C, indicating the level of cold conditions prevailing in the plains.

The lowest maximum temperature in the state was recorded at 23.5°C in Yamunanagar in northern Haryana during the day. Cold winds coming from snowfall-hit higher altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh have further tightened the grip of winter over the plains.

Weather Pattern and Visibility Issues

Light fog has crept in during morning and evening hours throughout the state and is affecting visibility. Dropping temperatures combined with fog are creating treacherous conditions for commuters, mainly during early morning hours.

According to Dr. Madan Khichad, Head of Agricultural Meteorology Department at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, the weather is likely to remain dry till November 18. "A weak western disturbance will reach Haryana on November 19, which will cause cloud cover," he said.

Expected Changes from November 19

The meteorological department said that this trend of decreasing temperature is expected to continue till November 18. There will be partial cloud cover throughout the state from November 19 due to a western disturbance. This weather system may dip day temperatures further and increase night temperature readings slightly.

The active western disturbance can cause snowfall in higher altitude regions of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, while its effect might be seen as cold winds with dense fog in the mornings in Haryana's plains. This would drastically bring down the visibility and further worsen the winter conditions.

Agricultural Advisory

Accordingly, Dr. Khichad advised the farmers to complete wheat sowing as soon as possible based on the forecast. He added that mustard crops are always vulnerable during this season and that farmers can consult agricultural scientists for effective disease prevention measures.

The new weather pattern indicates that people in Haryana should be prepared for continued cold with scattered cloud cover, leading to temperature and visibility variations in the weeks to come.
