In a welfare move for marginalised section of society, the Nayab Saini government in Haryana is set to provide 7,000 flats to poor families across the state. The initiative aims to support low-income households with affordable housing under the Housing for All program.

In the first phase, 509 flats in Sonipat have been offered by five developers. The allotment will be conducted via an online draw on October 8, and selected beneficiaries can expect possession by October 17.

Statewide, developers have offered approximately 6,500 additional flats in Gurugram, Faridabad, Jhajjar, Palwal, Panipat, Rewari, and Rohtak, which will be allocated in later phases. Applications for these flats have already been received and verified by Housing for All officials, with oversight from DG Dr. J. Ganesan.

Each flat is 200 square feet and priced at ₹1.5 lakh, with applicants having already submitted a booking amount of ₹10,000 in 2023 under the Chief Minister’s Urban Housing Scheme. Of 815 initial applicants, 794 were found eligible after verification.

The following order will determine the allocation priority:

  • Communities of nomads
  • Scheduled Caste (SC) families with widows
  • Families earning up to ₹1 lakh a year
  • Families earning between 1.4 lakh and 1 lakh rupees a year
  • Families earning between 1.4 and 1.8 lakh rupees a year

In order to ensure appropriate urban planning and housing access for the economically disadvantaged groups, the apartments will be offered under the Town Country Planning Group Housing Scheme.

This project is the first of its kind in Haryana and will give low-income families safe, affordable housing while demonstrating the state government's dedication to social welfare.
