Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini launched the Deendayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana on Thursday, promising Rs 2,100 monthly payments directly to eligible women's bank accounts. The scheme targets 20 lakh women in its opening phase with a budget of Rs 5,000 crore for 2025-26.
The launch ceremony took place at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula, marking Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya's birth anniversary. Saini demonstrated the process by registering five women live through the scheme's dedicated mobile app during the event.
Simple Application Process
Women can apply only through the mobile app - no visits to government offices or Common Service Centres are required. The app saw nearly 50,000 downloads within hours of launch, with 8,000 applications already submitted by Thursday evening. The scheme covers married and unmarried women aged 23-60 years from families earning up to Rs 1 lakh annually. Multiple women from the same household can apply, removing typical restrictions found in similar programs.
Two helplines have been set up for assistance: a toll-free number (18001802231) and support line (0172-4880500) to help with application difficulties.
Broader Women Empowerment Goals
Saini connected this scheme to the government's larger women empowerment agenda, noting it fulfills the 42nd promise from their 217-point election manifesto. He assured that 90 commitments will be completed by year-end.
CM Nayab Singh Saini also highlighted another initiative including the target of government to create 5 lakh 'Lakhpati Didis' with 2.13 lakh women already part of the scheme. Under the Drone Didi Yojana, 100 women have received drones and training, with another 100 planned this year.
Additional Development Projects
During the same event, Saini inaugurated projects worth Rs 326.25 crore, including 31 health projects valued at Rs 78.04 crore, foundation stones for 97 projects worth Rs 78.12 crore, and renovation of 10 health institutions costing Rs 80.72 crore. PWD and Urban Local Bodies projects worth Rs 89.37 crore were also launched. The scheme represents a significant financial commitment from the state government, with the annual Rs 5,000 crore allocation making it one of Haryana's largest direct benefit transfer programs for women.
