Two Haryana Police Officers Die in Terrible Road Accident

Crime Branch Constable and Inspector Killed When Car Hits Tractor-Trolley on UP's Bundelkhand Express Highway During Official Duty

Inspector Sanjay Kumar (45) and Constable Amit (28)

A terrible road accident on Uttar Pradesh's Bundelkhand Expressway last evening claimed the lives of two brave Haryana Police officers. The victims were 28-year-old Constable Amit from Jhajjar city and 45-year-old Inspector Sanjay Kumar from Tumbahedu village, also in Jhajjar. Two other policemen traveling with them got injured and are now being treated in hospital.

Both men worked at Haryana Police's Crime Branch office in Gurugram. They had gone to UP with their colleagues in a car for some official work - reportedly a raid operation.

The tragedy struck on Sunday evening when they were driving on Bundelkhand Expressway and their car crashed head-on into a tractor-trolley that was carrying soil.

The crash was devastating. The car got completely smashed and broken into pieces. Amit and Sanjay died on the spot. Their families got the heartbreaking news late at night. Since then, there's been nothing but sorrow in their homes and villages. Friends, relatives and neighbours have been consoling the families of the victims.

The families of both officers come from humble backgrounds. Amit's father Khajan Singh earns his living by selling fruits from a cart, showing the family's simple lifestyle. Inspector Sanjay's father works as a laborer in the Irrigation Department, indicating that Sanjay had risen from modest beginnings to become a senior police officer.
