A heartbreaking tragedy struck Bahadurgarh when a man lost his life trying to save his two young nieces who had fallen into the NCR canal. The incident happened on Friday evening when the family had gone to wash clothes at the canal.
Sunil from Rohad village took his nieces Ragini and Urmi to the canal that flows between Rohad and Mandauthi village. While they were washing clothes, both girls suddenly slipped and fell into the deep water. Without thinking twice, their uncle jumped in after them, but all three got swept away by the strong current.
Villagers immediately started searching for them, working through the night. This morning, a team of divers finally found Sunil's body some distance away from where the accident happened. However, the two girls are still missing and the search continues.
Head Constable Narender, who's part of the diving team, says they haven't given up hope of finding the children. Local people are helping police and rescue teams in whatever way they can. Their slippers and clothes were found on the canal bank, showing how quickly everything happened.
Sunil worked at a plywood factory in Rohad and had taken Friday off work. That's why he decided to spend time with his sister's daughters and help with the washing. Nobody could have imagined such a simple task would turn into such a disaster.
A villager named Krishna said accidents like this happen when people slip on the wet canal banks. The water level was high and the current was strong, making rescue impossible. This terrible incident shows how dangerous these canals can be, especially during monsoon season when water levels rise.
The entire village is in shock over losing Sunil, who was known as a caring person who always helped his family. Now everyone is praying that the girls' bodies will be found soon so their families can have some closure.
