After days of scorching heat, people in Punjab and Haryana finally got relief as steady rain over the past two days brought temperatures down significantly across both states.= The weather office reported that many areas received good rainfall in the 24 hours ending Wednesday morning at 8:30 AM. This welcome change has provided much-needed respite from the intense heat that had been troubling residents for weeks.
Cities That Received Rain:
In Punjab, several major cities experienced rainfall including Ludhiana, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Hoshiarpur, and Rupnagar. Haryana also saw widespread precipitation with Ambala, Hisar, Narnaul, Gurugram, Sirsa, and Nuh receiving good showers.= Chandigarh, the shared capital of both states, also received light rain during this period.
Temperature Drop:
The rain has caused a dramatic drop in temperatures. On Tuesday, maximum temperatures across Punjab and Haryana fell sharply. Chandigarh recorded a pleasant 31 degrees Celsius, which is over five degrees below the normal temperature for this time of year.
Across both states, maximum temperatures now range between 31 to 34 degrees Celsius. This is a stark contrast to last week when many areas were experiencing temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, making life difficult for residents.
Even minimum temperatures have dropped by several degrees, providing relief during night hours as well.
The rainfall brought a ray of hope for better weather conditions in the coming days along with cooling down the region. The rainfall gave people a break from the exhausting heat wave that had gripped the area.
