Haryana is set to get three new district jails as Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has approved a Rs 284 crore project to build modern prison facilities in Charkhi Dadri, Fatehabad, and Panchkula districts.
The proposal was presented by Jail Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma and received immediate approval from the CM. These three new jails will increase the state's prisoner capacity by approximately 4,000 inmates, addressing the growing need for detention facilities.

Currently, Haryana operates three central jails and 17 district jails with a total capacity of 22,647 prisoners. However, this capacity is considered insufficient due to increasing demand.
A new jail complex has been inaugurated recently in Rewari's Fidedi village , it was built on 50 acres of land with the cost of Rs 95 crore with capacity of 1000 prisoners. Earlier Rewari jail has the capacity of only 65 inmates and this led to their transfer to jails in Gurugram, Narnaul and Jhajjar facilities.
These new constructions represent a significant step toward modernizing Haryana's prison infrastructure and ensuring adequate facilities for the growing prisoner population.
