A blood donation camp in Karnal became the venue for a poignant message of peace as Himashi Narwal, wife of Lieutenant Vinay Narwal who was killed in the Pahalgam terrorist attack, spoke out against hatred on what would have been her husband's birthday.
"I don't want any hatred toward anyone, despite what has happened," said Himashi during the event, her voice breaking with emotion. "People are spreading hatred against Muslims or Kashmiris, but that's not what we want. We want peace."
Himashi, who herself donated blood at the camp, emphasized that while her family seeks justice, they do not seek vengeance. "Of course we want justice. Those who wronged him should be punished, but that doesn't mean we spread hatred. Today, we're all donating blood in Vinay's memory as a tribute to his service and sacrifice."
Local officials, including MLA Jagmohan Anand and Karnal Mayor Renu Bala Gupta, were present on the stage to support the family. Many attendees were seen wiping tears as the family chanted "Om Shanti" in remembrance. Attendees wiped tears as the family chanted "Om Shanti" in remembrance of Lt. Narwal.
Lieutenant Narwal was among the 26 people killed in the Pahalgam terrorist attack, with 17 others injured in the incident. The tragedy struck the couple just 6 days after their wedding on April 16, when they had traveled to the popular tourist destination of Pahalgam, Kashmir for their honeymoon.
The blood donation drive saw significant participation from local residents and military personnel. Military officials present at the event praised Lt. Narwal's service record and the dignified response of his family in the face of devastating loss.
As the event concluded, Himashi placed a garland on her husband's portrait, a solemn reminder of a life cut short and a love story tragically interrupted by terror forces in human society.
"Vinay gave his life serving the nation," a family member added. "The best way to honor his memory is by preserving the values of peace and harmony that he fought to protect."
