
The much-awaited Common Eligibility Test (CET) in Haryana is finally scheduled to take place in the last week of May. Following extensive discussions on Friday between Chief Minister's Principal Secretary Rajesh Khullar and Haryana Staff Selection Commission Chairman Himmat Singh, officials have given the green light for the exam to be conducted between May 28-30.
As the summer vacations in most schools beginning after May 20, providing adequate examination centers across the state. Officials anticipate a huge turnout with approximately 41 lakh candidates expected to appear for the Group C and D positions – nearly 17 lakh for Group D and 14 lakh for Group C posts.
Artificial intelligence (AI) will be used for the first time in a competitive examination to prevent cheating. Every examination center will be equipped with CCTV cameras monitored from a specially designed control room at the Commission's headquarters. "The government has given strict instructions to ensure a completely fair examination process," confirmed a senior official from the Staff Selection Commission. This marks only the second CET since the system was implemented, with the previous test held on November 5, 2022, when 8 lakh candidates appeared out of 11.5 lakh applicants.
The one-time registration process is expected to begin around May 2, with the portal currently being prepared to handle the massive influx of applications. The registration window will likely remain open until approximately May 20, with fee submissions accepted through the third week of May.
Chief Minister Nayab Saini had previously announced in the Legislative Assembly that the CET would be conducted in May, bringing relief to lakhs of youth who have been waiting for this opportunity since the last examination over two years ago.
