In a major breakthrough, Gurugram Police have finally caught all four men behind Sunday's assault on bikers. The accused, who were caught on camera attacking riders and smashing luxury motorcycles with baseball bats, reportedly apologized at the police station after being taken into custody.
The incident, which went viral on social media after disturbing videos captured the violent assault, occurred on Sunday when a group of eleven bikers were traveling from Ambience Mall to Panchgaon. According to victim Hardik Sharma, a black Scorpio tried to overtake their bikes by driving dangerously close to them.
"We stopped to let them pass, but they blocked our path with their SUV. They were visibly intoxicated and had glasses in their hands," Sharma told earlier. What followed was a brutal assault, with the muscular attackers pulling bikers by their helmets and striking them repeatedly, even as victims pleaded, "Sorry bhaiya, please."
Biker Turns Digital Detective
In a twist straight out of a crime show, Sharma turned detective himself when police investigation hit roadblocks. He shelled out $7 (about ₹585) for access to an AI tool that matched faces from his videos to public social media profiles.
"Look, I was getting bounced between police stations for 12 hours just to file an FIR," Sharma told us. "So I uploaded the videos to this AI app, and boom - it found these guys on Instagram. Turns out they're all bodybuilders who work out at the same gym." Sharma handed over the social media profiles to police before they'd even identified suspects through CCTV footage. "I literally gave them names, photos, and where these guys hang out," he said.
Luxury Bikes Reduced to Scrap
The damage was brutal and methodical. Videos show the bodybuilders hiting baseball bats to motorcycles worth between ₹10-25 lakh each, smashing headlights, panels, and engines while stunned onlookers watched from a safe distance.
"These weren't just bikes to us," Sharma explained. "My motorcycle alone was worth ₹11 lakh, plus another ₹3-4 lakh in accessories. They knew exactly what they were destroying."
What's most disturbing?
Not one bystander stepped in to help. Some filmed the assault, others simply drove by, but nobody intervened as the attackers systematically destroyed bikes and beat their owners.
From "Sorry Bhaiya" to "We're Sorry"
In an ironic twist, the same men who ignored pleas of "Sorry bhaiya, please" from their victims reportedly offered their own apologies after being taken into custody. Sources say they expressed remorse when confronted with evidence of their actions. The four now face serious charges including assault, criminal intimidation, and destruction of property. If convicted, they're looking at jail time and potentially massive compensation payments to the victims.
This case has blown up on social media as yet another example of "gundagardi" on Gurugram's roads, with many locals saying such incidents have become all too common. What's new is how tech-savvy victims are fighting back. Sharma's DIY detective work using AI might just signal a change in how citizens can help bring perpetrators to justice when traditional police work moves too slowly.
"We just want to ride our bikes in peace," said Sharma. "Nobody should have to face this kind of violence for simply being on the road."
