The Haryana government has launched an initiative to provide affordable housing plots to economically weaker sections in 16 cities across the state. According to official information, eligible families can book these plots by paying an initial amount of Rs 10,000 through the Housing for All department's website.

Importantly, only families who have already registered under the Chief Minister Urban Housing Scheme will be eligible to participate in this booking process. Those who haven't previously registered cannot apply for these plots. The government has identified plots in 16 cities: Charkhi Dadri, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Safido, Rohtak, Mahendragarh, Palwal, Bahadurgarh, Hisar, Jhajjar, Jagadhri, Ambala, Rewari, Karnal, Julana, and Jind.

The Nayab Singh Saini government has decided to provide 30 square yard plots in urban areas to families with annual incomes up to Rs 1.80 lakh who don't own their homes. This scheme was initially formulated during the previous Manohar Lal Khattar government but is now being implemented by the current administration.

The government has not only enabled online booking but also uploaded maps of all sites on the department's website and provided simple payment options. The 30 square yard plots will be priced at just Rs 1 lakh. After the initial booking amount of Rs 10,000, plot holders will need to pay the remaining amount in monthly installments over three years. Additionally, eligible families may receive a subsidy of Rs 2.25 lakh for house construction under the 'Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban 2.0'. In larger cities like Gurugram and Faridabad, the government plans to provide flats to poor families under the Chief Minister Urban Housing Scheme.

Online booking will remain open until April 30, after which applications will be screened and plots allocated through a draw. Plot holders will receive possession after all basic infrastructure is developed at the respective sites. The Housing for All department reserves the right to reclaim plots if any terms or rules are violated, after giving beneficiaries adequate opportunity for a hearing. In such cases, beneficiaries will not receive any compensation.
