Haryana Health Minister Calls for Urgent Review of Hospital Security After Assault on AirHostess

State Government Takes Serious Action Following the Sexual Assault of an Air Hostess at Prestigious Medanta Hospital, Raising Concerns About Patient Vulnerability in Medical Facilities

Haryana Health Minister Arti Singh Rao

Haryana Health Minister Arti Rao has stepped into the disturbing case of an air hostess being sexually harassed in the ICU of Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. Arti Rao has ordered complete review of hospitals across Haryana.

The shocking incident has caused major concerns, especially considering Gurugram is known as a top destination for medical tourists from across North India. "I find this incident deeply troubling, and we need to address it properly at every level," Minister Rao told The Tribune. "Gurugram has some of our best healthcare facilities in the country. We simply cannot compromise on the safety of patients, particularly those who are unconscious or sedated."

Rao pointed out that while there are already procedures in place for ICU security, this case shows they're either not good enough or not being followed correctly. "We're putting together a team of experts to look at what we're currently doing. If needed, we'll upgrade our procedures to make sure nothing like this happens again," she explained.

The state government has already begun looking into what happened at Medanta Hospital, alongside the police investigation that's underway. "We've told both the hospital and police to hurry up with their findings. If we find any negligence, we'll take strong action," said the Health Minister.

The incident has worried many international patients and their families. Local support staff and translators, especially those working with patients from Asia and the Middle East, have started giving safety advice to their clients.

The case has sparked a broader conversation about vulnerable patient protection, with many healthcare professionals calling for increased monitoring and stricter staff vetting processes across all medical facilities in the region.
