A bizarre incident at OP Jindal Global University in Sonipat, Haryana has come to light where a group of students attempted to smuggle a female student into the boys' hostel by packing her inside a trolley bag.
According to reports, a group of friends hatched the plan to help a second-year Business Law female student meet her boyfriend. Since university rules prohibit entry of opposite genders into each other's hostels, they decided to conceal the young woman inside a large trolley suitcase.
The plan unraveled when the bag's wheel broke while being transported, causing the girl to scream in pain. Her cry alerted security guards who immediately investigated and discovered the woman packed inside the luggage.
"Our security is very strong. Metal detectors are installed everywhere, and the girl was caught immediately. This was just mischief by their friends," said Anju Mohun, Chief Communication Officer of the university.
The university has issued a show-cause notice to the female student, with a hearing scheduled for April 25. Officials are currently investigating how many students were involved in the incident.
When questioned, the female student reportedly claimed it was merely a prank. The police have not registered any formal complaint regarding the matter.
The students reportedly chose a trolley bag for their scheme because such luggage is commonly used by students traveling between home and hostel, making it less likely to raise suspicion. They had planned to return the girl to her hostel using the same method after the meeting.
The packing of the approximately 5-6 foot tall student into the 2-foot bag took place in the girls' hostel room with the help of two female friends. They then handed the bag to the boyfriend and his friends at the university gate.
The university administration is now investigating the full extent of student involvement in this unusual incident.
