Yamunanagar is set to transform its appearance before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposed visit on April 14 for the inauguration of a new unit at the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant. The event will be held at Tejli Sports Complex, and city officials are working diligently to give Yamunanagar a complete makeover.
Municipal Commissioner Ayush Sinha recently held a meeting with officials to ensure all preparations are completed before the Prime Minister's arrival. He issued directives for city beautification, instructing that all main roads should be in good condition.
Road Repairs and Lighting Improvements
Officials have been ordered to make all major roads pothole-free, including Kurukshetra-Yamunanagar road, Saharanpur Road, Ambala Road, Old Saharanpur Road, Jagadhri-Paonta road, Railway Road, Govindpuri Road, Gymkhana Club Road, and routes leading to Tejli Stadium.
Damaged roads will be repaired, urban areas will receive fresh carpeting, and broken dividers will be fixed. Dividers and grills will be painted, and old street light poles on dividers will get aluminum paint. Non-functional lights will be immediately repaired to ensure proper illumination throughout the city.
Aesthetic Enhancements
Wall paintings featuring "Swachh Bharat," "Swachh Yamunanagar-Jagadhri," and "Khelo India" slogans and messages will adorn government buildings, hospitals, and roadside walls. Major entry points will display "Welcome to Municipal Corporation Yamunanagar-Jagadhri" and "I Love Yamunanagar-Jagadhri" signs with lighting and entry boards.
Tree guards will be painted, and trees and plants will be trimmed for a neat appearance. Tricolor lights on street poles will be repaired, and new ones will be installed where missing. The day before the Prime Minister's visit, all city squares, including Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk, Maharaja Agrasen Chowk, and Maharana Pratap Chowk, will be decorated with flowers and tricolor drapes.
Model Roads Development
Gymkhana Club Road and Workshop Road from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk to Maharana Pratap Chowk will be developed as model roads with cycle tracks, wall paintings, and thermoplastic paint for aesthetic enhancement. The boundary wall of Tejli Sports Complex will feature cleanliness-themed paintings on the outside and sports-themed artwork on the inside.
Cleanliness Drive
The Engineering and Sanitation departments will work together to make the city "zero waste." A campaign will be launched to clear construction and demolition waste and garbage from open areas. Street vendors will be shifted to designated vending zones to clear roadside encroachments.
Additional tractor trolleys, JCBs, loaders, and other resources will be deployed to improve sanitation. A campaign to catch stray animals will be conducted, and night sweeping and door-to-door garbage collection will be done in commercial areas. To spread the message of keeping the city clean advertisements on unipoles throughout the city will be replaced with "Swachh Yamunanagar-Jagadhri" banners.
