Haryana Government to Cancel Family ID Cards of These Families

New rules for Parivar Pehchan Patra will ensure only current residents of state have valid family identification, with additional measures to protect data privacy.

The Haryana government has implemented significant changes to the rules governing the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) or Family ID Card system. These modifications aim to bring greater transparency to the state's administrative procedures and improve the implementation of various welfare schemes.

According to the new guidelines, Family ID Cards will now be issued exclusively to families who currently reside within the state of Haryana. This represents a major shift in policy that will affect many cardholders.

Automatic Cancellation Criteria

Under the revised rules, Family ID Cards will be automatically cancelled in certain circumstances:

  • If a family relocates outside Haryana
  • Upon the death of a family member (requiring an update to the family composition)

These measures have been implemented to ensure that only genuine and current residents of the state are included in the database, making government services more targeted and efficient.

Enhanced Data Protection

The government has also introduced strict data protection measures as part of the new PPP framework. The sharing of Family ID Card data with private or non-governmental agencies has been explicitly prohibited to maintain data security and protect citizen privacy.

Furthermore, if the head of a family requests the removal of any member from their Family ID Card, that individual's data will be completely deleted from the system, providing families with greater control over their personal information.

Caste Verification Process

The new rules also establish a clear protocol for caste verification within the PPP system. The responsibility for verifying caste details of family members registered in the PPP will now fall upon the Patwari and Kanungo (revenue officials).

The Family Information Data Repository will forward caste verification requests to the Patwari who has jurisdiction over the area where the family resides. Importantly, this verification process will be conducted without revealing the caste information previously provided by family members, ensuring an unbiased verification.
