
Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini launched the nationwide water conservation campaign 'Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain-2025' from Panchkula on World Water Day.
The national-level event at Tau Devi Lal Stadium saw the inauguration of multiple water conservation projects and schemes across Haryana.
Key Initiatives Launched
The dignitaries launched several programs during the event:
- 'Mukhyamantri Jal Sanchay Yojana' for Haryana
- 'Jal-Jangal-Jan: Ek Prakritik Bandhan Abhiyan'
- Water Resource Atlas, 2025
- Integrated Water Resource Action Plan (2025-27)
- Online Canal Water Management System
- Best Practices under JSA-CTR
Projects Inaugurated
Water conservation works were inaugurated in five villages of Mahendragarh district: Mandola, Duloth, Badopur, Kheri, and Dokhera. The foundation stone for 400 artificial groundwater recharge structures was also laid.
Solar Power Integrated Micro Irrigation Projects were inaugurated in:
- Devdhar village and Begumpur in Yamunanagar district
- Julani Khera village in Kaithal
- Pahari village in Bhiwani district
- Akoli and Mandlana villages in Mahendragarh
In Ferozepur Jhirka, water supply projects were inaugurated in 52 villages and five dhanis to increase water supply.
Swachh Bharat Mission Projects
Under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural), the officials inaugurated solid waste management projects in Panchkula, including:
- 9 solid waste management sheds
- 103 soak pits
- 21 community sanitation complexes
Water Warriors Honored
The program also recognized water warriors for their contributions to water conservation:
- Rajkumar Mehra from Kurukshetra for natural farming
- Kushal Nehra from Sukhpura village in Yamunanagar for crop diversification
- Vikas Choudhary from Taroari, Karnal, for using DSR technology
Haryana Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Shruti Choudhry was also present at the event.
