JJP leader Ravinder Minna was shot dead in Vikas Nagar, Panipat, late Friday night in an attack that also left two others with bullet injuries. Minna, who served as the state secretary of JJP's youth wing, was earlier the district youth president of the party.
The injured, identified as Vinay and Vineet, are currently undergoing treatment in the ICU of a private hospital. According to initial reports, the assailant shot Minna in the forehead while Vinay and Vineet were hit in the stomach.
Police Investigation Underway
Preliminary investigations point to old enmity as the likely motive behind the murder. The attacker fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
Family members rushed all three victims to a private hospital, where doctors declared Minna dead on arrival. Senior police officials including SP Lokender Singh and DSP Suresh Kumar arrived at both the crime scene and the hospital to investigate the incident.
Party Reaction
JJP district president Ramniwas Patwari, along with other party leaders, visited the hospital following the attack. Expressing grief over the incident, Patwari noted that Minna was an active youth leader of the party.
Patwari also revealed that Minna's wife had been fielded as the JJP candidate from the Panipat City Assembly seat in the October Assembly elections last year. However, she was unable to file her nomination due to incomplete documentation.
The deceased was a resident of Jagsi village but had been living in Vikas Nagar area of Panipat.
