CM Saini Releases Rs 151 Crore as First Instalment Under PM Rural Housing Scheme

36,000 eligible families receive Rs 45,000 each to begin construction of pucca houses under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini today released Rs 151 crore as the first instalment of financial assistance to 36,000 eligible families in Haryana under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana. Each family received Rs 45,000 to begin construction of their permanent houses.

The funds were transferred during a programme organized during the ongoing budget session in the Vidhan Sabha in Chandigarh. Deputy Commissioners and chief executive officers of Zila Parishads from across the state participated virtually in the event.

While congratulating the beneficiaries, Saini emphasized the importance of home ownership, saying, "It is the dream of a poor person to have his own house. Today, through this programme, the construction of 36,000 homes is starting in the state. This day will mark the beginning of a better future for all these families. When people progress, the country and the state progress as well."

Housing for Migrant Workers

The Chief Minister also announced that the state government has formulated a policy to provide housing facilities for migrant workers in industrial areas. Residential complexes including dormitories and single-room accommodations will be constructed in industrial estates. Additionally, 1,600 flats will be built in Sonepat specifically for rental housing.

Saini urged all officials to conduct awareness drives and ensure maximum registration of eligible families under government housing schemes so beneficiaries can receive assistance promptly.

Senior officials present at the event included Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Arun Kumar Gupta, Commissioner and Secretary Housing for All Department Mohammad Shayin, Commissioner and Secretary Development and Panchayats Department Amit Kumar Agrawal, Director General Information Public Relations and Language Department K Makrand Pandurang, and Director General Housing for All Department J Ganeshan.
