The Karnal police Special Detective Unit has arrested a man for the alleged murder of his parents over property disputes. Himmat Singh, from Uchana village, is accused of killing his father Mahender Singh (56) and mother Bala Devi (54) on the night between March 13 and 14.

According to police reports, Himmat allegedly used sharp weapons to kill his parents before disposing of their bodies in the Western Yamuna Canal near Gagsina village.

Discovery of the Crime

The disappearance of the couple was reported on March 15 by Mahender's brother, Jarnail Singh, who grew concerned when he couldn't contact them. Following the report, police registered a case at Indri police station under Section 140(1) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNS). A forensic team collected evidence from the family home, and police issued alerts to neighboring districts about the missing couple. "We had formed several teams to investigate this case from different angles," a police officer involved in the investigation said.

Recovery and Ongoing Search

On March 14, authorities recovered Bala Devi's body from the canal in Panipat district. However, despite extensive search operations, Mahender Singh's body remains missing. "Our teams are making all possible efforts to locate Mahender Singh's body. The search operations are continuing in coordination with authorities in neighboring districts," said DSP Satish Gautam, who is overseeing the investigation.

Property Dispute Motive

Police investigation revealed that Himmat Singh had been involved in ongoing property disputes with his father. The situation had deteriorated to the point where Mahender Singh had filed a legal case in court against his son.

"The accused was not allowed to enter the family home due to previous conflicts," DSP Gautam explained. "Initial investigation indicates that property matters were the primary motive behind this tragic incident."

The accused was identified after police reviewed CCTV footage from the area and gathered evidence from various sources. Himmat Singh was subsequently arrested and is now in police custody.
