Yuvaraj's family is living through every parent's worst nightmare. The young man from quiet Mohana village in Kaithal has been kidnapped in a foreign land, with only desperate phone calls and ransom demands connecting him to his family back home. His father Kuldeep's eyes show the strain of sleepless nights as he pleaded with the Kaithal police chief for any help possible to bring his son home.
"I just wanted a better life for my son," Kuldeep said, his voice cracking as he recounted their ordeal. Last October, like countless other Haryana families chasing the American dream, he reached out to agents who promised the moon. "They looked so professional, had an office and everything. 'Don't worry,' they told me, 'your son will be in America legally, working and earning dollars.' We struck a deal for 41 lakhs, but I was careful - I told them I'd only pay when my son called me from American soil." Little did he know that this caution wouldn't be enough to protect his son from what was coming.
The Betrayal Unfolds
The agents gained the family's trust and took possession of Yuvaraj's passport. Then the situation quickly deteriorated. "They started asking for money using different excuses and managed to take 14 lakh rupees from us," Kuldeep explained, his voice breaking with emotion.
Soon after, the family received the devastating news that Yuvaraj had been kidnapped. The kidnappers immediately demanded $20,000 for his release. When Kuldeep contacted the agents for help, they coldly informed him that he would have to pay the ransom.
Rising Demands
"When I begged them to help free my son, the agents asked for another 8 lakh rupees," Kuldeep said. "They promised he would be released after payment, so I gave them the money. But they still didn't free him."
The situation has only worsened, with the kidnappers changing their demands from $20,000 to $40,000. Most alarming to the family is that they haven't been able to contact Yuvaraj for the past three months, leaving them to imagine the worst about his condition.
Police Investigation Begins
The family, accompanied by villagers from Mohana, visited the Kaithal Mini Secretariat to meet with the Superintendent of Police and demand swift action against the culprits.
DSP Gurvinder Singh confirmed that the family has filed a complaint at Pundri police station. "We will take all legal actions necessary in this case," he stated. "An investigation into the agents' fraud is ongoing, and the perpetrators will soon face consequences."
The case highlights the dangers of illegal immigration schemes and fake travel agents who prey on families dreaming of better opportunities abroad. Local officials urge citizens to verify the credentials of travel agents through proper government channels before engaging their services.
