In a shocking incident on Friday morning, a 34-year-old Japanese woman was found dead after reportedly falling from the balcony of her 14th-floor apartment in Gurugram. The deceased, identified as Madoko Thamano, had been living in the residential society with her husband and two children since September last year.
According to police officials, they received an emergency call early Friday reporting a woman's body lying on the ground. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Thamano's blood-soaked body near the residential tower.
"We responded immediately to the call and found the woman's body on the ground. Initial investigation suggests she fell from the balcony of her apartment on the 14th floor," said Inspector Sandeep Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO) of Sector 53 police station.
The police have conducted a post-mortem examination and handed over the body to the family. "The embassy has been informed about the incident," Inspector Kumar added. Authorities are now coordinating with the Japanese embassy as part of the ongoing investigation.
Thamano had relocated to Gurugram from Japan with her husband in September 2023, and the couple had been residing in the society with their two children. Neighbors expressed shock over the incident, describing the family as quiet and private.
Police officials have not yet disclosed whether they suspect foul play or if it was an accident. "Further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to this tragic incident," a police spokesperson said.
The authorities are examining CCTV footage from the building and interviewing residents to gather more information about the events leading up to the incident.
