The Haryana government has announced extensive support measures for meritorious students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Governor Bandaru Dattatreya outlined these initiatives during the opening of the budget session in the state assembly on Friday, emphasizing that poverty will no longer stand as an obstacle in the path of talented students.

Free Education and Financial Support

Female students from families with annual incomes below Rs 1.8 lakh will receive complete tuition fee waivers at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in all government and government-aided colleges across the state.

Additionally, the government has committed to bearing all expenses for students from poor families who secure admission to any government medical or engineering institution in the country.

Collateral-Free Loans and Scholarship Programs

The Nayab government will provide loans without collateral or guarantee for higher education, making it easier for students to finance their studies without putting family assets at risk. Detailed information about these loans and their funding will be disclosed when Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini presents the budget on March 17.

For Scheduled Caste students, the government has introduced a cash reward of Rs 1.11 lakh for those scoring 90% or higher in Class 12 examinations. During the current financial year, 704 students have already received incentives totaling Rs 7.81 crore under this scheme.

Continuing the Super-100 Program

The government will continue the successful 'Super-100' program initiated in 2018. This program provides specialized coaching to talented students preparing for competitive examinations. 190 students have qualified for IIT Advanced, and 333 have cleared NEET examinations through this initiative.

"These students are proving that with proper support, talent from any background can achieve remarkable success," said Governor Dattatreya.

Smart Schools and National Education Policy Implementation

Haryana is pioneering the implementation of the National Education Policy, becoming the first state in India to do so. The government has made a principled decision to transform 1,500 schools into smart schools with modern infrastructure and technological facilities.

"We are focusing primarily on improving school infrastructure to create an environment conducive to quality education," the Governor explained.

The budget for education is expected to increase this year to support these ambitious initiatives, reflecting the government's commitment to transforming the educational landscape in Haryana.
