The body of Congress party worker Himani Narwal was found stuffed inside a suitcase among bushes in Sampla, leaving the community shocked. Moving with remarkable speed, the police cracked the case within just 36 hours, arresting the accused who will now be presented in court to obtain police remand. Investigators are conducting a thorough probe into what appears to be a relationship gone terribly wrong.
Woman's Body Found in Suitcase on March 1
Addressing a press conference at his office, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of Rohtak Range, KK Rao, revealed that on March 1, a Rohtak police team discovered a young woman's body in suspicious circumstances inside a black suitcase lying among bushes near the bus stand on Delhi Road in Sampla. Based on preliminary information, a case under sections 103(1) and 238 BNS was registered at Sampla Police Station for murder and destruction of evidence.
Rao explained that Rohtak Superintendent of Police Narendra Bijarniya, recognizing the gravity of the case, immediately formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT). The team included Deputy Superintendent of Police Sampla Rajneesh, Sampla Station House Officer Inspector Bijendra, and Police Post In-charge PSI Narendra. They worked tirelessly to identify the victim, succeeding within 12 hours in identifying her as Himani, a resident of Vijay Nagar, Rohtak. The post-mortem was conducted on March 2.
Accused Arrested from Mundka Within 36 Hours
"Considering the seriousness of the case, the SIT from Rohtak arrested the accused from Mundka, Delhi, within 36 hours," said the Additional Director General of Police. The accused has been identified as Sachin alias Dhillu, 30, son of Devender, from Khairpur village in Jhajjar district.
The investigation revealed that Sachin is married with Jyoti and is a father of 4 years old son and 8 years old daughter and runs a mobile repair shop in Kanonda village, Bahadurgarh, Jhajjar. "The two had an argument over money matters which escalated so badly that the accused strangled the young woman with a mobile charger cord," explained Rao. After the murder, the accused fled with her jewelry and laptop, which have now been recovered following his arrest.
How the Crime Unfolded
Investigators discovered that Himani lived alone at her home in Vijay Nagar, Rohtak, while her family resided in Delhi. Sachin had befriended Himani on Facebook about a year ago and was a frequent visitor to her home. The two regularly communicated via mobile phone and various social media platforms.
"What began as a heated argument over financial matters turned deadly when Sachin, in a fit of rage, used a charging cable to strangle Himani," a police source close to the investigation revealed. "After killing her, he stuffed her body in a suitcase, transported it to an isolated area in Sampla, and abandoned it in the bushes near the bus stand."
Locals expressed relief at the swift action taken by the police. "Such a horrific crime has shocked our community," said Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Sampla. "We're grateful the police acted so quickly to catch the culprit."
The case has sent shockwaves through political circles, with several Congress leaders demanding the harshest punishment for the accused. The police are now investigating whether anyone else was involved in helping the accused dispose of the body or escape after the crime.
