Current Challenges Faced by Students

Many government schools throughout Haryana have been functioning without proper desks for students. This deficiency has forced numerous children to sit on mats (tat-patti) or directly on the ground while attending classes. Such conditions not only affect the learning environment but also impact students' health and comfort during school hours.

The Education Department has recognized this critical infrastructure gap and is now working proactively to ensure all schools are equipped with appropriate furniture before the start of the next academic year.

Implementation Process and Verification

The Director of Secondary Education has issued letters to all District Education Officers (DEOs) with instructions to collect and submit requirements for dual desks from schools in their respective districts. To facilitate this process, a standardized proforma has been shared with all schools.

School teachers must complete this proforma with specific details including:

  • School and block name
  • Number of registered students from classes 9 to 12
  • Quantity of dual desks required

The directorate has issued a stern warning that if information provided in the proforma is found to be inaccurate or false during verification, disciplinary action will be taken against the concerned school principal.

Comprehensive Verification Underway

The announcement comes following a recent four-day verification process conducted by the Education Department to assess classrooms and resources in government schools across the state. Officials from both the Education Directorate and district level visited schools to verify the existing infrastructure. The physical verification of facilities in schools will continue until March 1, 2025. Based on reports received at the district level, technical teams will inspect 10 percent of the schools to validate the information.

The final compiled report will be submitted to the directorate by March 5, 2025. This initiative represents a significant step toward improving the basic infrastructure in Haryana's government schools, directly benefiting thousands of students who have been studying in challenging conditions. With proper seating arrangements, students can focus better on their studies and achieve improved learning outcomes.
