Kerala Nursing Students 'Forced to Strip Naked', 'Tortured with Compasses' During Ragging

Students from Government Nursing College in Kottayam, Kerala reported horrifying pattern of abuse that began in November 2024. According to the complaint filed by the victims, senior students forced the first year students to stand naked and abused them physically using weighlifting dumbbells and compass. 

Cruel Methods of Torture

The senior students used compasses to inflict wound on the victims by forcefully applying lotion on the compass led injuries. The juniors were also subjected to harassment as the cream was forcefully applied on their faces, heads and mouths.

Extortion and Regular Harassment 

Beyond physical torture, the seniors established a system of weekly extortion, demanding money from juniors every Sunday to purchase alcohol. Unable to endure the continuing abuse, three students finally approached the Kottayam Gandhinagar police, leading to the arrest of five third-year students.
