PM Modi Calls Iranian President, Urges Peace After US Nuclear Site Bombings

Indian Leader Expresses Deep Concern Over Middle East Crisis, Pushes for Dialogue between the Rivals

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Sunday

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Sunday, expressing India's serious concern about the growing conflict in the Middle East. The phone call came just hours after the United States bombed three major nuclear facilities in Iran.

Modi told the Iranian President that India is deeply worried about the recent escalations between Iran and Israel. He strongly called for immediate de-escalation and urged all parties to use dialogue and diplomacy to solve their differences. "We discussed the current situation in detail. I expressed deep concern at the recent escalations," Modi said in a social media post. He emphasized that talking and diplomatic solutions are the only way forward to bring back peace, security, and stability to the region.

The US attack targeted three important Iranian nuclear sites - Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. American B-2 bombers carried out the strikes, which President Donald Trump said "completely and totally obliterated" the Iranian nuclear facilities.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi strongly condemned the US action, calling it a "grave violation" of international law and the UN Charter. He said Iran reserves all options to defend itself and called the bombing "extremely dangerous, lawless and criminal behavior."

The European Union also urged all sides to step back and return to talks. EU foreign ministers will discuss the situation on Monday. The UK and many other countries have appealed for calm, while China and Russia have not yet officially responded to the developing crisis.
