From Charpais to Global Charts
Back in 1956, Sardar Prakash Singh couldn’t have imagined that his small dhaba in Murthal which was set up to serve passing truck drivers simple meals like dal, sabzi, and chawal would one day become an international food destination.
A Family Recipe for Growth
In 1990, his sons, Amrik and Sukhdev, stepped in with fresh energy and a clear vision. They brought structure, expanded the menu, and gradually transformed the dhaba into a modern-day restaurant without losing the soul of the place. Today, it serves everything from hearty parathas to South Indian fare, round the clock.
High Footfall, Zero Ads
Amrik Sukhdev is open 24/7 and always buzzing, whether it’s students on late-night drives, families en route to the hills, or hungry travellers craving a roadside treat. With 5,000 to 10,000 visitors daily, the dhaba now earns an estimated ₹100 crore annually, all without spending on advertising. It’s built purely on reputation and trust.
500 Employees, 150 Tables, and a 45-Minute Turnaround
According to business content creator Rocky Saggoo Capital, the dhaba runs with clockwork efficiency, thanks to a team of over 500 staff, 150 tables, and an average 45-minute customer turnover. This kind of volume and speed would be the envy of even big-city chains.
Global Recognition for Desi Flavour
In January this year, Amrik Sukhdev earned a spot on TasteAtlas’ list of the ‘100 Most Iconic Restaurants in the World’, putting Murthal on the global food map.
