A political controversy has erupted in Haryana after a woman Congress leader from Sonipat accused senior party figures of allegedly taking money in exchange for an Assembly election ticket.

Suchitra Singh, who served as the state general secretary of the Haryana Mahila Congress, has alleged that crores of rupees were taken in the name of securing a party ticket from the Bawal Assembly constituency.

According to Singh, the money was allegedly transferred to accounts linked to individuals associated with senior Congress leaders. She has accused aides of Priyanka Gandhi and K. C. Venugopal, as well as K. Suresh, of being involved in the alleged transaction.

Singh claimed that payments were made to the personal accounts of the leaders’ associates with the assurance that she would receive a party ticket from the reserved Bawal constituency. However, she said the promised ticket was never given.

The leader has submitted a formal complaint to the Delhi Police seeking registration of an FIR and a detailed investigation into the matter. She also stated that she had resigned from her position as state general secretary of the Haryana Mahila Congress, though her resignation has not yet been officially accepted.

Singh said she had served the Congress party for decades but alleged that she was denied proper recognition despite her long association with the organisation. The allegations have triggered political discussion within the party, as reports of factionalism in the Haryana Congress had already been surfacing in recent months. Party leaders have not yet issued an official response to the claims.

If the complaint leads to an investigation, the matter could further intensify political tensions within the party ahead of future electoral battles in the state.
