An emotional situation was witnessed at Jhajjar as a woman suddenly appeared in front of the convoy of Haryana Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana, demanding justice over a pending land dispute.
The incident occurred outside the Mini Secretariat after a grievance committee meeting. While the minister was leaving the spot, the woman suddenly started crying and stopped the minister’s convoy, which attracted the attention of everyone at the spot. The police personnel present at the spot intervened in the matter and later helped the woman meet the minister.
While speaking to the minister, the woman explained the situation, stating, “I had purchased a 300 square yard land in 2011 for Rs 7.5 lakh from a resident of Jhajjar. The land owner had taken the amount and prepared the agreement, but the registry of the land was not done.”
The woman further explained, “In 2013, all the documents were taken from me on the pretext of registering the land, but even after 14 years, the process of registering the land is still pending.”
According to the victim, she has been visiting police stations and government offices repeatedly but has received no resolution. She alleged that instead of help, she was often discouraged or threatened when she tried to file complaints. She stated that she has met many officials over time but that her grievance has still not been addressed. She further stated that despite meeting the minister, there has been no concrete assurance given to her.
A video of this incident has gone viral on social media, and there is now a discussion on how to improve administrative responses and the problems that citizens face in resolving their pending grievances.
Once again, there is a focus on the lack of grievance redressal and accountability in the region.
